what are imws?

IMWs are the files that IncrediMail uses to insert music into e-mail that it sends. IMWs in my opinion complete a well created letter when you are sending it out to groups of people to "show off" or even if you are just making something special for someone else. All IMW files self install if you double click on them and have IncrediMail installed.

IMWs For IncrediMail

Download any of these IMW files and double click them to add them to your IncrediMail Style box. You can then simply insert them into your outgoing letters by choosing the SOUND Tab when sending an E-Mail. Clicking on one will add the little speaker so that people can click the speaker if they choose to listen. Right Clicking on the music file and then selecting "Insert as Background Sound" will make it so that the song plays automatically, and doing BOTH will make it so that people reading your IncrediMail Letter can snag the music for their own Style Box.

How To Rip MP3s Into IncrediMail Friendly WAVs & Add Them To Letter Creator

First you will need a program called DB Power Amp The site to get it is here http://www.dbpoweramp.com/ then you need to download the music converter. It sets up really easy, and it's free. Second you have to go here http://www.dbpoweramp.com/codec-central-wma.htm to download two files ... 1. Windows Media Audio v9 System Codecs (3.8MB) [not required if Media Player 9 or above is installed] ... 2. WMA v9 Codec Release 1.3b(260KB)

After you install the DB PowerAmp, you install the two files above and make sure you reboot.

Okay...here's what you need to do to make your large files into nice little WAV files

Right click on any windows media song {MP3, WMA, WAV, etc etc}. This brings up a window with the option ... Convert To. This automatically opens up your DB PowerAmp. You need your conversion window to say wave. And check where it says compressed. On to screen shot two.

After placing a dot in the compressed area, click on change format. Using the drop down arrow change to MPEG Layer-3 {or LAME}. In the attributes window select ... 16Kbit/s 16000 Hz Mono 1kb/sec. {If That Is NOT An Option then choose the largest kbit/s and the largest HZ Mono that still has 1kb/sec} That's it... after you've set that up just hit convert. Moving on to screen shot 3.

This is optional.. but I would set a folder up on my hard drive specially for my converted WAVS. After setting it up click where it says folder and browse for the folder. All of your converted wavs will automatically go into that folder.

To Add A Sound/Music File To Your Style Box From Your Hard Drive

1. Open IncrediMail and your Style Box and click on Sounds.

2. Click on the ADD button at the bottom left of the style box.

3. A Display box with OPEN will appear on your screen.

4. Go to the "LOOK IN" Bar and type what folder you want to get your music file from. Once you have the folder displayed, you will see the list of music files you have in that folder.

5. HIGHLIGHT the files you would like to copy into your style box, then click on OPEN

6. A display box - 'Adding Content' will appear and it will show you that it is copying the files into "My Collection" Folder of the Sounds Category in your style box.

7. Display the "My Collection" Folder and you will see that the files are there with a star to the left of the music file.

To Add A Sound File To An Email

1. Open the Style Box and select the Sounds Category.

2. Click on the folder that contains the song/sound you would like to add to your letter.

3. LEFT CLICK the song or sound you would like to attach to your email. If you have done this correctly, a speaker will appear in the bottom right hand corner of your email and your music will start. Once you hear it, RIGHT CLICK on the music file again and a Display Box will appear. LEFT CLICK on "Insert as a Background Sound" and the music file will restart. (Note: With some systems, the music will not restart. In those cases, you will need to allow the song/sound to play all the way through before it will let you add it to the background.) Once the sound is added to the background, you can send your e-mail.

IMPORTANT: If you do not choose "Insert as a Background Sound", people cannot save your music for their own Style Box. So, it's worth bearing this in mind when putting music in. After all, there's little point in putting music in your stats if people cannot snag it. The best way to see if you've made the sound snaggable is to test it on a friend or a Mod.

4. There is an option to loop your sound. This is only recommended if you are trying to drive the recipient of your email out of their mind.

5. If you change your mind and would like to have another song, go to the top of the list of music files and you will see "No Sound". LEFT CLICK on it and your music will stop. Then if you want to add a different song, follow steps 2-3 again.
